What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, addressing pain in joints, ligaments, muscles, and nerves. Chiropractic care is a patient-centred, non-invasive, hands-on, regulated health care profession.
Chiropractors use the best available evidence and clinical expertise to diagnose issues that affect your body’s movement. They treat them without medication or surgery and prevent them from returning. Chiropractic care can also promote health and improve your quality of life, as well as alleviate pain.
How Can Chiropractic Help Me?
Doctors of chiropractic, called ‘chiropractors’ are spine, muscle, joint and nervous system experts. Every chiropractor receives at least six to seven years of post-secondary academic and clinical education. They are trained in how to evaluate, diagnose, recommend, and deliver a treatment plan that manages issues within these systems, according to your preferences.

Chiropractic Myths Busted:
Myth #1: Chiropractors do more than crack backs. Many people associate chiropractors with spinal manipulative therapy – or to use a simpler term, cracking backs. And chiropractors do often manipulate spines, but that’s far from all they do they also use other therapeutic techniques.
Myth #2: Chiropractic treatment is painful. Even if your chiropractor does manipulate your joints, it doesn’t usually hurt. But you may hear popping sounds. They’re nothing to be alarmed about, though. “That isn’t us breaking your bones, it’s just the gas between the joints coming out” (Cavitating)
Myth #3: Chiropractors treat only back and necks. Chiropractors work with the whole neuro- musculoskeletal system. This includes joints, muscles, and ligaments as well as the spine. That means they can assess and treat more than just backs and necks. They can also help you with other parts of the body, too. For example, shoulders, wrists, elbows, knees, and ankles. Dr. Phil treats a variety of ailments. For example, tendonitis, sprained ankles, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, swimmer’s shoulder, and knee pain from repetitive use like running.
Myth #4: Once you go to a chiropractor, you’ll be going forever. How often you will need to visit a chiropractor depends on why you’ve come in the first place. If it’s an acute problem, it’s typical that you’ll start to feel better after just a few visits.
When Can I Expect to See Results?
Results vary depending on the type and degree of your condition. Many clients notice a difference right away, or it may take several treatments before you start to feel progress.
Dr. Phil will discuss your individualized treatment plan with you and explain when you can expect to see results.
